Costa Rica - Part 3
8
This was one of the first meals we had in
Costa Rica. Darryl heard they were big on
their soups, and a local recommended this
place, so we gave it a try. We got such laughs,
I can't even tell you... It was very bland.
The kids were less than thrilled.

So they ordered a cheese crisp... this is what

they brought... More laughs..!

Taylor's face in this photo says it all.
Darryl and I laughed so hard we cried.
Too funny!!
8
We took a tour through the Cloud Forest.
Since the jungle is so high in the mountains,
typically there are clouds streaming through
the trees and the forest floor. But, just our
luck.. since it was such a nice sunny day,
no clouds for the Grizwalds. We had a tour
guide though, who was incredibly nice and very
informative. He carried a telescope which we
used to see the many birds that hid amongst
the trees. If it weren't for him, we would
have passed everything by and not seen
a darn thing.

The dense jungle & vines.

This plant was called "Dutch Shoes".
Chloe thought it looked more like a
mustache.
8

We were lucky to see this bird, the "Catale" it
was very beautiful and very hard to find
according to our guide.
The pictures don't do it justice though.

It's tail feathers were very long and the
most beautiful aqua color.
8

Another beautiful bird - can't remember
it's name though...

8 You could squeeze inside of this
tree. The exterior vines feed off
the bark and then eventually it becomes
hollow in the middle.

Look - Monkeys!

There was this beautiful waterfall
at the bottom of our trail.

We all really enjoyed the day!

Costa Rica - Part 2

The grounds at the Monteverde Lodge were
very beautiful.

Beautiful big fern.

Gorgeous flowering plants.

So lush and so many different
varieties of green plants.

Jungle girl.

These large plants reminded me of artichokes,
and were in large pots all around the hotel.
I wanted to steam them up and dip in
lemon butter.

Walking trails around the property.

Group photo prior to our zip lining.

Bridge to zip lining.

Gearing up.

Were all ready to go!

Sky Tram to the top.
8
Zip lining was awesome! We did a total
of 10 lines, each line was about
1,000 ft. in length and
approx. 200 to 500 feet above the
jungle canopy. It was incredible &
exhilarating - by far the highlight
of our trip!

Costa Rica - Part 1

We started our journey with a 5 1/2 hr.
drive from Phoenix to Los Angeles.
We are all very anxious to get on the airplane.
8
Grandma and Logan are ready to go.

Logan's first Airplane trip.
8

After a long day of driving, flying,
airports, security checks, customs and
connecting flights, we have made it
to San Jose, Costa Rica. After a good
night sleep, we will leave for Monteverde.
8

We are ready for the drive.

The roads are narrow and winding.

We slowly made our way up the mountains

to Monteverde. 8

After a 3 1/2 hour drive, we made it to
The Monteverde Lodge. Thank goodness for
GPS (we called her Cha Cha), we would have
never found our way. No road signs...just
turn here and then there.

The Monteverde Lodge.
8
Our room with a jungle view.

8
We slept really good here. The chirping
of crickets and the croaking of frogs would
sing you to sleep. Next day we will
explore the area and go zip lining.

Sweets for my Valentines

Happy Valentines Day!
Chocolate cupcakes with Chocolate
frosting and a fresh raspberry
on top - Yum!

We are back from our trip to
Costa Rica. We had a awesome trip - lots of
laughs and great memories were made.
Mounds of laundry to do - ugh.
We took over 500 pictures, so will take some
time to sift and sort through them.
It was quite the adventure, but feels
so good to be home.
