"Scary Larry"

Dad is seeding the lawns today

So Logan and I decided to make a
scarecrow to keep the birds away.

We used some of Logan's old jeans

and an old shirt for the head

Logan made a face and we glued
on some buttons

he's coming together

Isn't he cute?! - or scary I should say.

What a pair.
Logan named him "Scary Larry"!

BOO!

Where did the week go?

It was a loooong, busy week, filled
with challenges on many levels.
Do you ever think you just might not make
it through? - it was one of those.
But here we are...on the other side.
Now...on to the next week...
On a lighter note - I re-potted
my herb pot - Rosemary, Thyme and Oregano.
Love to have them for cooking with
all winter long - soups, roasts, etc.
Planning a delicious pork roast for
dinner tonight.

Fall muffins

Made some delicious pumpkin strussel
muffins yesterday.

Pumpkin Strussel Muffins
2 cups flour
1/2 t. salt
1/2 t. baking powder
1 t. baking soda
1 t. cloves
1 t. cinnamon
1 t. nutmeg
2 cups sugar
(I know, this is alot....)
3/4 cup butter
2 lrg. eggs
1 (15 oz.) can pumpkin puree

Mix together dry ingredients, set aside.
Cream butter and sugar, add eggs one
at a time, then pumpkin, mix till combined.
Add dry ingred.
I made this recipe as muffins, but you could
make as a loaf.
It made 18 muffins or one large loaf.
I filled the muffin cup half way, then added
a strussel topping and then added more
batter on top.
Strussel topping:
1 cup chopped pecans
1/4 cup melted butter
1/4 cup sugar
1/3 cup brown sugar
2 tsp. cinnamon

Bake at 350 for approx. 20 min.
Loaf will take longer... 45-50 min.

Picnic at the park

The kids are on fall break this week.
Logan and I had a picnic at the park
and the
weather was gorgeous!

Planted some new flowers too.
We also ate dinner outside on
the patio and had a fire.
Oh how I love the cooler weather.

Fall treats

Picked up a few goodies from
Trader Joe's yesterday.
Can I just say how much I
love
that place.
Adorable Halloween cookies,
the cutest hand soap dispenser,
smells good too, and how awesome
is that wine bottle?
The wine sales person said it

tastes great too - sold!
(will try that tonight and see...)
Also bought four carving pumpkins
with perfect stems
and chocolate croissants.

A work of art

Cooler weather

We had a bit of a cold front come through
this past week - average temp during
the day 78. It feels soooo good!
So nice to be able to go outside and
breath the fresh, cool air.
Bought this big, happy pumpkin
at Trader Joe's, just love it's bright
orange color - it makes me happy.
~
We also put up our Halloween
decorations, watched
"It's the Great Pumpkin
Charlie Brown" (one of my favs),
and ate dinner outside.
So happy that fall is here!
